GREEN BAY, WIS. — Carnivore Meat Company, which specializes in the production of premium raw, frozen and freeze-dried pet food and treats under the Vital Essentials brand, announced Michael Wood is joining the company as chief operating officer. In his role at Carnivore, Wood will oversee all operations and supply chain functions for the Green Bay-based company.
Wood brings more than 30 years of experience that includes prominent roles at Ethos Pet Brands, the parent company of Natural Balance Pet Foods and Canidae; Merrick Pet Care; and Sow Good Inc. He most recently served as senior vice president of supply chain at Natural Balance Pet Foods.
“We are thrilled to add Michael Wood to our talented team,” said Heather Govea, chief executive officer of Carnivore. “His expertise in the pet industry, particularly in building results-oriented teams and strong organizations will help us to further scale our rapidly growing business. Michael’s operations and supply chain management experience will be vital to enhancing our ability to deliver exceptional products to our customers.”
Wood is expected to play a crucial role in helping the company effectively meet market needs and capitalize on opportunities in the pet industry. As part of the global pet market, valued at $246 billion, about 42% of dog and cat owners are willing to invest in premium pet food, according to Carnivore.
Wood’s hiring follows the recent news of Cameron Baker joining the company as vice president of Technical Services of Vital Essentials.
