GREEN BAY, WIS. — Vital Essentials, flagship brand of Carnivore Meat Company, announced the appointment of Cameron Baker to the role of vice president of technical services. In this newly created role, Baker will lead food safety and quality initiatives for the company, as well as work to advance the company’s advancement of research and development in pet nutrition.
With more than 12 years of experience in pet food and quality, Baker has served in various roles at Chewy, Jinx, Fresh Express and Sovos Brands. This strategic hire is part of Carnivore Meat Company’s commitment to expanding its technical expertise and driving growth within the pet food industry.
This appointment follows the company’s appointment of Heather Govea to chief executive officer. Govea replaced Lanny Viegut, who retired from his role as CEO of the company at the end of 2023. Viegut started Carnivore Meat Company in 2011 and continues to serve as a member of the board of directors.
“We are building on our solid foundation with the addition of high caliber pet industry talent to further our commitment to food safety and quality, as well as excellence in nutrition,” Govea said. “Cameron’s technical expertise and experience in high growth businesses will propel our capabilities forward tremendously.”
