FLEETWOOD, PA. — ANSWERS Pet Food announced its voluntary withdrawal of certain lots of its Detailed Beef Formula for Dogs, Straight Beef Formula for Dogs, and Straight Chicken Formula for Dogs. The company is withdrawing the food out of caution after samples collected by the FDA were reported to have tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. As of Sept. 22, no illnesses associated with these lots have been confirmed.
ANSWERS is notifying the public, distributors and retail stores regarding this notice as the affected lots were distributed throughout the United States in retail stores and via online.
The products being withdrawn are sold in 4-lb half gallon cartons. The products include:
- Detailed Beef Formula for Dogs, best by May 6, 2026 — Lot code BUBD MAY 06, 2026
- Straight Beef Formula for Dogs, best by Jan. 31, 2026 — Lot code BUBD JAN 31, 2026
- Straight Chicken Formula for Dogs, best by Jan. 2, 2026, and Mar. 11, 2026 — Lot codes BUBD JAN 02, 2026 and BUBD MAR 11, 2026
FDA guidelines recommend any product from the listed lots that has not yet been consumed should be thrown out or destroyed in a way that children, pets and wildlife cannot access it. Additionally, areas that may have come in contact with any contaminated food should be sanitized.
According to the company, it will continue investigating this FDA report pursuing its number one priority to bring healthy, safe, truly raw pet food products to market.
