LISBON, OHIO — BrightPet Nutrition Group will unveil a refreshed brand presence for its Blackwood pet nutrition portfolio at Global Pet Expo 2024, held March 20 to 22 in Orlando, Fla. The rebrand precedes several new product launches planned for the brand later this year, including new meal toppers, freeze-dried single-ingredient treats and granola treats, as well as new branding for Blackwood’s Oven Baked Bites.
New package designs for the Blackwood portfolio aim to communicate freshness, quality and health benefits to consumers, while enhanced formulations are supported by ProPath Performance Minerals from Zinpro. Additionally, a new tagline — “good things take time™” — for the Blackwood brand combines the brand’s legacy of super-premium, slow-cooked pet nutrition with its science-backed vision for the future, according to BrightPet.
“We are proud and excited to reintroduce the Blackwood brand, with improved favorites and brand-new products, to the market,” said Collin Frantz, executive vice president and general manager of brands at BrightPet. “As always, our top priorities are meeting the unique needs of pets and exceeding the highest standards of pet parents. To this end, we have ensured that our revamped Blackwood lines provide the best nutritional value with unparalleled flavors that pets crave.”
BrightPet has partnered with Zinpro to fortify Blackwood’s dry dog food recipes with key minerals that support overall health and wellness in dogs. According to the company, the inclusion of Zinpro ProPath Performance Minerals serves many purposes in Blackwood formulas, including maximizing nutrient retention to support brain, digestive, hip and joint, and skin and coat health, optimizing amino acid transport systems, and supporting absorption and metabolism to bolster mobility and immunity.
This enhancement, combined with Blackwood’s low-and-slow processing, is expected to result in “next-level nutrition,” BrightPet shared.
Additionally, the brand has reformulated its Blackwood Bounty cat food portfolio to feature new flavors for kittens, adults and seniors. The new-and-improved formulas tout increased protein levels, with formulas including between 82% and 90% animal-sourced protein.
All Blackwood kibbles will now be sold in resealable bags, which will feature a QR code so pet owners can access more information about each recipe.
