Pet Honesty launched this supplement for puppies at the beginning of 2023. Formulated with functional ingredients, the supplement takes a proactive approach toward a puppy’s health and development. According to Pet Honesty, it is a challenge for puppies to receive optimal levels of DHA from their diets alone. The soft chews contain a high level of DHA sourced from marine algae to promote cognitive brain development.
This new dog food line by Royal Canin seeks to help manage canine atopic dermatitis, a chronic skin disease. The line offers both dry and wet diets, formulated with a patented blend of nutrients and antioxidants that promote skin, coat and immune health.
Campfire Treats’ new line of pork treats for dogs are certified by the Global Animal Partnership. The single-ingredient treats are formulated with just pork and are free from additives, antibiotics, preservatives and growth hormones. They are available in two formats: jerky and liver.
Wellness Pet Company marked its entrance into the pet supplement space with its first line of dog supplements. The line consists of five recipes targeting specific health issues, from mobility to gut health. The chewable supplements are formulated with a range of functional ingredients, from biotics and collagen to green lipped mussels, chamomile and others.
Pawse unveiled its newest pet supplement: Mighty Mushrooms. The limited-ingredient supplement includes USDA Certified Organic extracts from fruiting bodies of the Chaga, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake and Turkey Tail mushroom varieties. The freeze-dried soft chews aim to support healthy immune response, anal glands, skin and allergy responses in both dogs and cats.
This new brand officially launched in February 2023 with its first product: a dog food topper supplement. Formulated with natural ingredients and made in the United States, the all-natural topper serves as a calcium supplement and flavor enhancer. The supplement is available in a peanut butter flavor and does not contain any artificial colors and flavors or grains.
Primal Pet Foods debuted this new sous-vide style pet food line. The Gently Cooked line features refrigerated/frozen, complete-and-balanced diets, four for dogs and two for cats. In mid-February, female-founded Fera Pet Organics launched these new supplements for dogs and cats. The new Calming Support supplement is a mix of neurotransmitters, organic botanicals and probiotics, which can help promote relaxation in pets. The probiotic strain in this specific supplement helps promote a balanced mood. The new Liver Support supplement is formulated with milk thistle, turmeric and black pepper extract BioPerine™, as well as choline and organic botanicals to help promote endurance, heart function, liver health and normal detoxification.
This new dog nutrition company launched to provide the nutrition dogs need throughout their entire lifetime using responsibly sourced ingredients. The company offers freeze-dried raw, complete-and-balanced diets and treats, as well as supplements targeting specific health concerns in dogs.
These new supplements by Pet Matrx are available in three formulas: Protect, designed to support digestive issues; Think, designed to promote calmness and support the nervous system; and Move, designed to support mobility. The new supplement toppers leverage Pet Matrx’s proprietary Cell Matrix Delivery® method, which bypasses a dog’s digestive system, delivering lipids directly to cells that need enhanced support and allowing dogs to utilize as much of an ingredient as possible.
Women-owned Healthy Paws Pet Company, Inc. launched this line of functional dog treats. The line features three varieties of soft-baked cookie treats, each boasting a health benefit, including skin and coat, hip and joint, and immune support. The cookie treats are baked in the United States, are organic and low-calorie, and are specifically designed to be digestible for any size dog of any age, according to Healthy Paws.
At the beginning of March, The Bear & The Rat launched single-serve dog food toppers. The Mighty Toppers are fresh/frozen and serve as a more convenient way for pet parents to introduce human-grade foods to their pups. The toppers are available in two varieties: Goat Milk and Bone Broth.
Solid Gold debuted this line of functional supplements for dogs in March. The supplements are available in five formulas, each featuring the company’s proprietary ingredient blend, which includes plasma. Leaps & Hounds™ targets joint health, Grass Guardian™ supports urinary tract health, PetVites™ promotes healthy immune system function, Mellow Belly™ supports digestive and gut health, and Pet Pal-lergy Pro™ seeks to protect dogs against seasonal allergies.
These soft and chewy dog treats by Smart Cookie Barkery are formulated with real shrimp and coconut. They were designed with flavor in mind to entice picky eaters and dogs with sensitive stomachs, according to the company.
This new product served as a first for Mars Petcare’s TEMPTATIONS brand. The complete-and-balanced cat food line builds off the brand’s well-known cat treats, boasting high palatability. Formulated with high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals, the new TEMPTATIONS Dry Cat Food consists of crunchy and creamy “pockets” mixed with dry kibble.
Benebone’s newest chew innovation is flavored with real beef tripe. The new chew has a curved, squiggly shape designed to be “paw-friendly,” and is available in three different sizes.
During Natural Products Expo West from March 7 to 11, “I and love and you” showcased its new Treat Meow “Squeeze & Thank You” lickable cat treat and Irresist-A-Bowls dog food. The cat treats are available in three varieties, each targeting a specific health issue and made with a different protein source. And the Irresist-A-Bowls food is a “pantry-fresh, skillet” dog meal formulated with non-GMO, fresh ingredients, according to the company.
Hill’s Pet Nutrition introduced its latest prescription-based pet foods to support pets diagnosed with cancer: Prescription Diet ONC Care. The new line offers both dry and wet complete-and-balanced formulas for cats and dogs with cancer. The diets help encourage a healthy appetite in pets to ensure muscle mass maintenance with high-quality protein and healthy digestion with ActivBiome+ support.
This high-protein dry dog food line by Blue Buffalo is designed to “indulge dogs’ wild sides.” The new diets combine the company’s classic BLUE Wilderness dry dog food formulas with new tender meaty cuts, offering nutrient-dense diets made with an optimal mix of protein, fat and complex carbohydrates.
Marcoot® Jersey Creamery’s brand Dog-O’s™ debuted two new products during Global Pet Expo. The company’s new Dog-O’s Ice Cream for Dogs is all-natural and made in the United States. The Cheesy Chompers Cheese Dog Treats are now available in two new flavors, offering a source of calcium, vitamin A, essential fatty acids and B-complex vitamins, according to Marcoot.
Dr. Jan Pol, star of “The Incredible Dr. Pol” TV series on National Geographic, returned to Global Pet Expo 2023 with several new products, including new Incredi-Pol pet food and treat products. Among the new products is a line of seasonal holiday treats for dogs.
Later in March, Freshpet partnered with Petco to bring personalized, subscription-based fresh pet food to US pet parents. Pet owners can complete a brief questionnaire on Petco.com, answering questions about their dogs’ physical attributes, sensitivities and health goals, to receive a personalized meal plan. Freshpet Custom Meals™ are formulated by veterinary nutritionists with natural chicken, beef, salmon or egg proteins, as well as real fruits and vegetables.
Burns Pet Nutrition brought back its Wholesome Turkey wet dog food. Wholesome Turkey is formulated with turkey, carrots, wholegrain rice, vitamins and minerals, providing a hypoallergenic, complete-and-balanced diet. The product can also be used as a topper to enhance Burns Pet Nutrition’s dry dog food formulas.
Fromm Family Foods showcased its first line of soft and savory dog treats: Tenderollies™. Tenderollies Dog Treats are available in three formulas — Beef-a-Rollie, Chick-a-Rollie, and Bac’n Chedd-a-Rollie. They are designed as “high-value incentive” training and treating options for dogs, according to Fromm.
Natoo, a pet nutrition brand owned by Brazil-based PremieRpet, launched a line of super-premium, “protein-packed” meal toppers for dogs and cats. The new Natoo Meal Toppers/Treats are formulated with clean ingredients, single-source proteins and palatable broths. They are available in two formulas for dogs and two for cats.
Natural Balance showcased two innovations at Global Pet Expo: Limited Ingredient Stews for dogs and Original Ultra With Broth-Coated Kibble. Limited Ingredient Stews are formulated with protein from chicken, beef or duck, and vegetables cooked in bone broth. The Original Ultra With Broth-Coated Kibble line includes grain-inclusive and grain-free options for small and large breed dogs, as well as grain-free and wholesome grain varieties for cats and kittens.
This new line of chews by Nature Gnaws are oven roasted and formulated with single or limited ingredients. Made in the United States, the line consists to two new products: Turkey Tendons and Pig Ears. The chews can serve as a natural alternative to rawhide, providing dogs with dental health and stress relief benefits, as well as mental stimulation.
Nature’s Logic’s new functional dog treat line Biscuits with Benefits includes three baked treat formulas targeting common health concerns in dogs — Calming Support, Skin & Coat Care, and Healthy Digestion. Biscuits with Benefits come in versatile shapes that allow them to be fed whole or broken into smaller bits for smaller mouths and training.
Wild Earth showcased these new plant- and fungi-based dog foods at Global Pet Expo 2023. The complete-and-balanced formulas are 100% free from animal-based ingredients. The Performance Formula contains 28% fungi and plant-based proteins and is designed for more active pups. The Core Formula contains 23% fungi and plant-based proteins.
PetPlate expanded its presence in the pet supplement sector with the launch of two new dog supplements — Chill Out and Up to Fluff. The full chewable supplement line includes four varieties, each targeting a different aspect of dog health. Soothe Operator targets digestive health, Hip Hopping targets joint health and mobility, Chill Out seeks to promote relaxation, and Up to Fluff supports skin and coat health.
Insect-based pet nutrition company Jiminy’s debuted its new Dental Chews products for adult dogs. The new chews offer a texture that can help clean teeth, freshen breath and reduce plaque and tartar build-up. Available in a cinnamon flavor and formulated with sustainable insect protein, the chews are available in various sizes for extra-small, small, medium and large dogs.
Female-founded pet health company Fera Pet Organics unveiled its new supplement powders for pets at Global Pet Expo, and later launched the products in April. The supplements are available in five recipes, each targeting a specific health benefit: Immune, Skin & Coat, Hip & Joint, Calm, and Multivitamin. Each supplement contains goat milk and is designed for both dogs and cats.
Midwestern Pet Foods showcased these two new treats lines during Global Pet Expo. The Ultimates Jerky grain-free treats are formulated with chicken, beef, lamb and whitefish proteins, as well as vegetables. Each treat also contains a natural, smoky flavor. The new EarthBites Crunchy grain-free biscuits are formulated with superfoods, including butternut squash, flaxseed, blueberries and spinach, as well as high-quality proteins. The treats contain a crunchy texture to help keep a dog’s teeth clean.
Cultivated meat company CULT Food Science relaunched this freeze-dried, cultured-protein pet food line in April. The line includes a complete-and-balanced dog food, treats and supplements for dogs and cats. All the formulas in the Noochies! line are formulated with Bmmune™, a patent-pending blend of nutritional yeast offering functional benefits. All three product groups are freeze-dried through a patent-pending process to preserve nutrients through extrusion and optimize their absorption.
Paleo Ridge expanded its Classic Bone Broth line, introducing a beef and lamb flavor. According to Paleo Ridge, the bone broths can support sensitive stomachs and gut health and are grain free. They can be served warm or cold as a complement to an existing complete-and-balanced diet.
This new limited-ingredient dog treat by Polkadog is formulated with green crab and kelp, offering both functional and environmental benefits. The treats represent the company’s restoration project, which seeks to help curb the overpopulation of green crab in New England and support local kelp farmers. The treats contain protein and Omega 3 fatty acids to support overall health and wellness.
UK-based Pure Pet Food expanded its portfolio with a new recipe supporting renal health. The diets are designed with low protein, sodium and phosphorus levels for dogs with kidney disease. Pure Pet Food’s renal diets were formulated by the company’s in-house nutritionist.
Mars Petcare’s SHEBA brand launched its first diets for kittens. Formulated with high-quality proteins, the kitten diets provide complete-and-balanced nutrition that supports a healthy immune system, strong bones, muscle and brain development. The foods also contain DHA, vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients to support healthy development.
Launched by The Honest Kitchen, these functional meal toppers for dogs were developed in collaboration with a veterinary nutritionist. The toppers are available in five recipes — Heart Health Turkey Broth & Salmon Stew, Immune Support Beef Stew, Hip & Joint Support Chicken Stew, Revive & Restore Chicken & Pumpkin Stew, and Skin & Coat Salmon Stew. Each Pour Over contains functional ingredients.
This treat collection by We Are NDependent combines animal organ meat with Golden Milk, a superfood. The Pairs dog treats are formulated with raw goat’s milk, fermented turmeric, ginger and kefir powder. The functional treats are available in two varieties: Beef Liver with Golden Milk and Pork Heart with Golden Milk.
Frankly Pet released a new peanut butter flavor to its Beefy Puffs treat line. The new Peanut Butter Beefy Puffs are rich in collagen to support healthy skin, coat, joints, nails and teeth in dogs. The treats consist of a light, crispy texture and provide a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin, according to Frankly Pet.
During Global Pet Expo, Green Juju highlighted its new freeze-dried raw pet food formulas. The Freeze-Dried Raw Diets are available in four recipes, each of which can serve as a complete-and-balanced diet. The line is formulated with proteins high in organ meat, a dark, leafy green, and kelp.
This new formula by California Dog Kitchen is formulated with all organic and locally sourced ingredients, including chicken and organ meat, quinoa and fruits and vegetables. According to California Dog Kitchen, the diet is the first USDA-Certified Organic fresh dog food made specifically for the independent pet retail market.
Barkworthies’ new hickory-smoked, natural dog chew and treat line consist of eight different products, each with a Southern-inspired BBQ flavor. The new line includes: Smoked Bully Sticks, Smoked Thick Bully Sticks, Smoked Trachea, Smoked Yak Cheese, Smoked Chicken Breast Fillet, Smoked Beefy Sticks, Smoked Rib Bones, and Smoked Beef Burgers.
Another supplement product from Fera Pet Organics, Pumpkin Plus is ideal for dogs and cats experiencing digestive issues or with sensitive stomachs. The supplement is formulated with organic pumpkin, organic pumpkin seed, organic flax seed, organic ginger, apple fiber and coconut fiber, offering a wealth of benefits.
Freshpet debuted a new diet developed specifically for large breed dogs. The Oceanic Chews Whole Anchovies are nutrient-dense and seek to support heart, brain, bone, joint and muscle health.
FoodScience®, LLC’s brand VetriScience launched three new pet supplements, targeting allergy and immune health in dogs. Omega Plus is a chewable supplement that can help support skin and coat health. Immune Plus is a capsule supplement that can help support immune system health and complete wellness in dogs. Allergy Plus is formulated with active ingredients to help regulate and minimize immune system responses to allergens.
Pet Honesty’s new supplement is formulated with Melatonin, a hormone associated with circadian rhythms that promotes calm and sleep; chamomile, which has been used in herbal medicine to help relieve anxiety; and L-Theanine, an amino acid found in green tea that may help relieve stress and anxiety. The product seeks to help calm dogs experiencing highly stimulating activities that trigger excitement, stress, restlessness and anxiety, without any reliance on hemp-based ingredients.
PetPlate’s new FreshBaked line consists of crunchy, gently baked clusters. The new formula features human-grade, visible ingredients and is available in two flavors: Trail Blazin’ Beef Morsels Recipe and grain-free Roost Rulin’ Chicken Nugget Recipe.
