New pet food, treat and supplement products introduced between January and June 2022.
Pet food companies began the year with a bang, debuting new products, introducing innovations and marking their first forays into the industry. Flip through Part 2 of our new product slideshow for a recap of the newest product announcements from January to June 2022.
The company expanded its line of dry dog and cat foods with two new formulas: GO! DIGESTION + GUT HEALTH and GO! WEIGHT MANAGEMENT + JOINT CARE. Each formula offers two products for cats and two products for dogs. The new categories were developed by Petcurean’s pet nutrition team and are formulated with premium ingredients and contain no by-product meals nor artificial preservatives, similar to all the existing categories within the GO! SOLUTIONS line.
Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Supplements’ new Calming Care cat supplements serve as a management option for pet parents whose cats express anxious behaviors. The supplements were once available only to dogs. Calming Care is formulated with the BL999 strain of bacteria, which has proven to aid in calm behavior, and vitamin E, which acts as a cortisol blocker to decrease stress and increase immune health.
NUTRO, a Mars Petcare brand, launched its SO SIMPLE pet food line, which features dog food and toppers formulated with simple, high-quality ingredients to provide pet parents with healthy options. NUTRO SO SIMPLE food and treats are formulated with natural flavors, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients necessary to keep dogs healthy. The line features two dry foods and two wet food varieties, boasting a total of four recipes.
This grain-free dog food line — called Ultimate’s Grain-Free Food for Dogs and Puppies — offers three adult-stage recipes and one all-life stage recipe. The Ultimate’s Grain Free line features four recipes: Bayside Select, formulated with fish; Heartland Choice, formulated with chicken; Meadow Prime, formulated with lamb; and Overland Red, formulated with beef. All varieties are also formulated with antioxidants, taurine, high-quality protein, fruits and vegetables.
Trident Seafoods’ new Alaska Naturals® Fish Oil Food Topper for Dogs uses Wild Alaska Pollock as a sustainable source of functional ingredients. The topper is formulated with a boost of EPA and DHA Omega 3 fatty acids to support a dog’s skin and coat health. The new product was part of the company's partnership with Nordstrom Restaurants and the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP).
Pilmico Animal Nutrition Company expanded its pet food line Maxime with the line’s first cat food formulas. The new cat food within the Maxime line boasts a minerally-balanced and easily digestible formula available with tuna and salmon proteins. The company also launched an entire new line, solely dedicated to cat food, called Tommy. The Tommy line offers affordable, 100% complete-and-balanced cat meals.
“I and love and you” released these new dog food products: Irresist-A-Bowls. The pre-portioned dog food is formulated with fresh, non-GMO produce, prebiotics, and farm-raised, non-GMO grass-fed beef and cage-free chicken. The new Irresist-A-Bowls are pantry-safe and are available in two varieties: Chicken + Beef Recipe and Chicken + Duck Recipe.
The cat food company released several new cat food products, including Pâté, Functional Puréed Toppers, Culinary Kibble, Kitten Kibble, Minced Recipes and Freeze-Dried Cat Treats, amassing a total of 18 new products. The company also debuted Bone Broth Toppers, formulated with responsibly sourced protein, fruit juice, yeast and prebiotics to support cats’ digestion and hydration needs. Formulated without grains, Made by Nacho Bone Broth Toppers are available in three flavors: Beef, Chicken and Turkey.
The pet food company expanded its existing Sustain dog food line with jerky treats, bone broth toppers and pate formulas. The Sustain Jerky Treats are available in four varieties: Free-Range Chicken, Cage-Free Duck, Wild-Caught Salmon and Wild Venison; the Sustain Bone Broth Toppers are available in three different recipes: Cage-Free Chicken, Wild-Caught Alaskan Salmon and Cage-Free Turkey; and the Sustain Wholesome Pâté dog food is available in three varieties: Cage-Free Chicken, Wild-Caught Alaskan Salmon and Cage-Free Turkey. All the new products are formulated with sustainable or responsibly sourced proteins.
To help dog parents celebrate Earth Month with their dogs, Tailored Pet recently launched new daily dental chews, which are formulated with plant-based proteins, as well as a line of soft and chewy treats.
Eukanuba’s new formula is specifically formulated to support the development of working and sporting breeds of puppies with high-quality proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, as well as high levels of DHA, glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate. The new food rounds out Eukanuba’s existing Premium Performance line to include all life stages.
Toward the end of April, TEMPTATIONS entered the kitten segment with its new Kitten Treat line. Similar to the brand’s adult cat treats, the new treats are specifically formulated for kittens to support healthy brain development. TEMPTATIONS Kitten Treats consist of a crunchy shell filled with a soft, creamy center and are available in two flavors: Chicken and Dairy and Salmon and Dairy.
These new dog supplements by Open Farm offer full ingredient traceability and transparency. The chew supplements are available in five varieties: Immune to support seasonal allergies, skin and immune health; Hip and Joint to support joint health, mobility and occasional discomfort; Skin and Coat to support skin and coat health with Omega-3 fatty acids; Calming to support relaxation and occasional anxiety and stress; and Probiotic to support healthy digestion, gut and immune health.
Bocce’s new dog supplements are available in a variety of recipes to target a dog’s specific health needs: Calming in a Banana and Honey flavor to support relaxation; Multivitamin in a Cheese and Honey flavor to support overall dog health and wellness; Probiotic in a Pumpkin, Sweet Potato and Ginger flavor that supports gut health with a boost of fiber; Hip and Joint in a Peanut Butter and Honey flavor that supports joint health; and Skin and Coat in a Salmon flavor to support skin and coat health with vitamin E and fatty acids. The B-shaped supplement chews are formulated with all-natural, locally sourced ingredients.
Raised Right’s bulk boxes provide four, 24-oz trays of human grade, fresh frozen dog food in a 6-lb box. The bulk boxes are available in Raised Right’s Beef, Turkey, Pork and Chicken and Original Adult Dog recipes.
The new AMAZING GRAINS dog food line is formulated with non-GMO whole grains, like oats, quinoa and chia, to provide essential nutrients. AMAZING GRAINS boasts a high level of protein at 38%, of which about 90% is derived from animal ingredients, to support muscle maintenance in dogs. The line is also formulated with prebiotics, probiotics, and soluble and insoluble fiber to support gut and digestive health, as well as Omega 3 fatty acids from wild-caught pollock to support immune and skin and coat health.
The Bear & The Rat’s new pet treat mixes are clean-label, wheat and gluten free. Barley’s Bakes is available in two flavors: Bone Broth with Peanut Butter Frosting, and Peanut Butter with Yogurt Frosting. Packaged in 9-oz boxes reminiscent of human cake mix, the new line allows consumers to bake their own treats for their dogs.
This new line of dog treats offers a variety of recipes to target specific health issues or training needs in dogs. Good Dog treats are formulated with premium, natural ingredients to provide functional benefits and promote good behavior. The treats are available in three varieties: Happy Puppy, Training Rewards and Tender Toppers.
We are NDependent launched two new lines of dog treats: Sticks and Plus+ Freeze-Dried treats. The Sticks line of treats is available in five flavors: Sweet Potato with Beef Green Tripe, Beef and Pomegranate; Chicken Bone Broth, Chicken and Apple; Duck Egg, Duck and Pear; Goat’s Milk, Goat and Blueberry; and Krill, Sardines and Cranberry. The Plus+ Freeze-Dried treat line consists of two varieties: Necks+, made with ground turkey or chicken necks; and Tripe+, made with bison of beef tripe. Both treat lines are formulated with uncommon ingredients including cinnamon, dandelion leaf, duck eggs, goat’s milk, beef green tripe and krill.
Bocce’s Bakery introduced its limited-edition, summer-themed treats for dogs. The treats are available in four varieties: ‘Berries & Cream, a soft and chewy cream cheese treat formulated with blueberries and honey; PB-Banana Chip, a soft and chewy peanut butter and banana treat formulated with carob; Fish & Chips, a salmon and sweet potato biscuit treat, formulated with parsley; and Burgers & Fries, a beef and sweet potato biscuit treat, formulated with cheese.
Torito Brands expanded its Nature Gnaws brand with three new chew formulas. The all-natural chews include Braided Bully Twists, Braided Jerky and Braided Gnaws. The chew treats are all formulated with real meat and are oven-baked to serve as a healthier alternative to traditional rawhide.
Austin-based, new pet food company The Conscious Pet, launched its first product: DoggieBag. The dog food is formulated with high-quality kitchen scraps and unused food from local restaurants, including whole chicken and pork, fruits and vegetables, as well as a vitamin and mineral supplement mix. The gently cooked dog food contains no artificial ingredients, animal meals, grains or legumes.
Frankly Pet’s Collagen and Protein Beefy Chew Sticks are formulated with 98% high-quality collagen from US cattle. The chew sticks are highly digestible and serve as an alternative to traditional rawhide. With the addition of collagen, the Beefy Chew Sticks help promote healthy skin, coat, nails, joints and teeth in dogs.
This pet food company expanded its existing treat collection, Farm Stand, with three new flavors. The collection now includes Banana, Mango and Watermelon pops, rounding out the Farm Stand Collection to five flavors total. The Banana pops are formulated with bananas, organic peanut butter and organic chia seeds, the Mango pops are formulated with mango and coconut, and the Watermelon pops are formulated with organic watermelon and organic blueberries.
The new supplement powder by Health Extension is formulated with probiotics and enzymes to support digestion in adult dogs and puppies. The Belly + Immunity supplement contains live-cultured probiotics to reduce gut inflammation and help dogs break down food more easily, increasing nutrient absorption and helping reduce the severity of food sensitivities.
Pet food company Jinx collaborated with juice company, Pressed Juicery, to debut its plant-based, limited-edition dog treats. The new Jinx x Pressed dog biscuits are formulated with limited, plant-based ingredients to cater to dogs with food sensitivities, and are free from corn, wheat, soy, fillers and artificial preservatives. The biscuits are available in two flavors: Peanut Butter and Banana, and Pumpkin.
Zesty Paws’ new Vet Strength line of supplements offers three formulas to address hip and joint, immune and gut health, all veterinarian-formulated. The line builds upon the brand’s Aller-Immune, Mobility, and Pre, Pro and Postbiotic Bites formulas, which are boosted with highly concentrated ingredients.
For kittens, Stella & Chewy’s added two new products: Carnivore Cravings Purrfect Paté, which expands the company's existing Carnivore Cravings line, and Raw Coated Kitten Kibble. The Raw Coated Kitten Kibble is formulated with cage-free chicken, DHA to support brain and eye development, Omega fatty acids to support skin and coat health, and high levels of fat and calories. The company also introduced a new cat formula to its Carnivore Cravings lines. The new Carnivore Cravings Minced Morsels offers cats a smooth paté texture with shreds of real meat.
Osso Good Life’s new Organic Bone Broths for Dogs and Cats can be served as a topper or treat. The broths are available in two varieties: Organic Chicken and Organic Beef. The new bone broths are formulated with organic chicken, grass-fed and grass-finished beef, organic carrots, apple cider vinegar, celery and bok choy, and are gluten- and grain-free.
The pet retailer’s private-label brand OptimPlus™ boasts more than 30 different dry dog and cat food products with specific varieties to address common health concerns, including sensitive skin and stomach and weight management. The brand also includes food designed specifically for kittens and puppies, as well as adult pets. All OptimPlus pet food diets are formulated with a blend of vitamins, minerals and nutrients to support pet health and wellness with a complete-and-balanced diet.
Vitakraft expanded its cat treat line with two new formulas — jelly and meaty gravy. With the addition of the new treats, Vitakraft now offers cat treats in four different formats — liquid, jelly, morsels and sticks — all of which are high-quality and low in calories, according to the company. The single-serve treats are formulated with real chicken and salmon, providing a boost of protein, Omega 3 fatty acids to support healthy skin and coat, and taurine to support heart health.
This new line marks Wellness Pet Company’s entrance into the fresh/frozen category and expands its existing Bowl Boosters line. The Bowl Boosters Freshly line includes three recipes — Chicken and Butternut Squash, Beef and Carrots, and Turkey and Sweet Potatoes — formulated with high-quality fresh proteins, rice and vegetables. Loaded with vitamins and minerals, the foods can serve as a meal topper, treat or complete-and-balanced meal.
A new Canadian pet food company, Charmy Pet, detailed its new line of freeze-dried raw pet food that is formulated with Chinese medicinal herbs. The “East Meets West” Freeze-Dried Raw Pet Food line is formulated with Astragaulas root, ginger, seaweed, ginseng and goji berry, making it one of the first pet foods in the North American market to include such herbs, according to the company.
This pet food company released Daily Supplement Bites and Freeze-Dried Raw Mixers, both of which are specifically formulated for dogs. The new Daily Supplement Bites are formulated based on veterinarian recommendations and contain glucosamine and chondroitin to support hip and joint health. The Freeze-Dried Raw Mixers, formulated with single-sourced animal proteins, can be added to a dog’s existing meal as a topper or served as a training or regular treat.
