Pet brands are gearing up for the season with special, spooky offerings.
Halloween is just around the corner, which means several pet food brands are releasing limited-edition items to help pet owners entertain their furry companions through the season.
This year’s slideshow features new items, including an uncanny cat treat, “Bootique” items from a leading big box retailer, and ghoulish branding twists on otherwise ordinary products. Flip through to see what’s in store this October.
According to Purina, the maker of Temptations cat treats, these Tasty Human snacks play into the idea that if our feline companions were a bit bigger — like their ancient relatives — they may try to sneak a nibble of their owners. These uncanny cat treats are chicken, liver and beef flavored.
To complement its existing Boo Bars (a twist on its regular Blue Bars dog biscuits), Blue Buffalo has launched Blue Bits this year as a semi-moist training treat option in “spooky shapes.” These chicken-flavored bites are formulated with oatmeal and brown rice, and do not contain meat or bone meal, BHA or wheat ingredients.
Three brands owned by The J.M. Smucker Company have released limited-edition dog treats this season. Milk-Bone and Pup-Peroni are offering Trick Or Treat Packs featuring a variety of “fun-size” baked and chewy treats from the two brands.
Additionally, Rachael Ray Nutrish has released a special version of its long-lasting chews, Soup Bones. Pup-Peroni is offering Halloween-themed Original Beef Dog Treats with spiderwebs, bats and pumpkins on the packaging. Milk-Bone is also offering its MaroSnacks Crunchy Canister Boneyard Dog Treats, which it sold last Halloween season, but now with updated packaging.
Three Dog Bakery is offering dog cookies with carob and peanut butter flavors this Halloween. The treat box features bones, bats and dogs looking like they have just gotten back from a successful night of trick-or-treating.
This brand is offering two single-ingredient treats: BOOly Sticks, a spin on its natural bully stick chews, and Ghouly Bites, a collagen-based functional treat made from beef esophagus. Both are high in protein and low in fat, according to Barkworthies, and are intended for small dogs and puppies.
These vampire-inspired, all-natural dog biscuits are formulated with oat flour, carob, honey, coconut, coconut oil, vanilla and chia seed. They are produced in the United States in small batches using domestically sourced ingredients.
This leading big box retailer has assembled a “Bootique” of costumes, toys and treats to help dogs, cats and other companion animals celebrate Halloween with their owners. Pictured here are two of several dog treat products sold through the Petco Bootique, including baked dog treats in festive shapes — skulls, pumpkins and ghosts — and cream-cookie treats that look like Oreos.
The retailer is also selling bones, chews and decorated biscuits.
Chewy is selling Halloween Goody Boxes for dogs and cats this season. The feline Goody Box includes five hand-selected products, including two toys, two treats, and a candy-corn-shaped pop-up tent for playtime.
Like the Halloween Goody Box for Cats, this bundle for dogs includes five hand-selected products – two toys “that go squeak in the night,” two treats and a jack-o-lantern bandana.
