LENOIR, NC. — Carolina Prime Pet Inc. is recalling 400 bags of its Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips treats for dogs due to potential contamination with Salmonella. The potential for contamination was noted after testing performed by a third-party laboratory identified contamination in a related, yet commercially unreleased lot of the same product.

The product comes in a 16-oz purple and black bag marked with lot number 20051324L2 and an expiration date of Nov. 13, 2025. The recalled treats were distributed to Hollywood Feed stores in about 20 US states as well as online through Hollywood Feed’s website.

As of Nov. 22, Carolina Prime Pet claims no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

Salmonella can affect both animals that eat the product and humans who have handled it. The company recommends that if pets have consumed the recalled product, pet parents should stop using the product and contact their veterinarian regardless of signs of symptoms.
