DETROIT LAKES, MINN. — Blue Sky Nutrition LLC, an ingredient supplier offering nutraceuticals, proteins and solutions for the pet food and dairy industries, announced May 2 it has acquired Maltwerks’ Food & Feed division, which merchandises premium grain ingredients to manufacturers in the food and animal feed industries.

The acquisition will allow Blue Sky Nutrition to bolster its offerings for the pet food, feed, food and supplement markets.

“Increasing our offering with Maltwerks’ food and feed merchandising business will allow Blue Sky Nutrition to expand to international markets with a diverse portfolio,” said Randy Peterson, chief executive officer of Blue Sky Nutrition LLC. “Maltwerks will remain a key player in the brewing and distilling beverage space.”

According to its website, Maltwerks offers USDA-NOP Organic Certified cereal grains, including sprouted wheat, barley and oats.

The transaction closed in mid-April, and financial details were not disclosed.
