TAMPA, FLA. — Better Choice Company shared that its research partner Aimia Pet HealthCo. Inc. (APH) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KGK Science Inc. for the development of a GLP1 supplement for pets that addresses obesity.
KGK is a leading Canadian research organization that offers clinical research trials and expert regulatory support to companies throughout a variety of industries. Throughout its 25 years of business, KGK has helped hundreds of companies with custom clinical trials and claim substantiation, as well as path-to-market strategies.
Through KGK and Aimia’s MOU, KGK will commence research and development for a GLP1 pet supplement that will be offered under Better Choice’s Halo pet nutrition brand. Better Choice announced its MOU with Aimia in October. The supplement aims to help treat obesity in dogs and cats, as well as other health issues.
According to Better Choice, pet obesity and the health issues associated with overweight pets is a growing area of interest for consumers and the pet nutrition industry, as more than half of dogs and cats throughout the globe are either overweight or obese.
“We are pleased to make progress with our R&D partners APH and KGK,” said Michael Young, chairman of the Board of Directors of Better Choice. “We see the use of the GLP1 supplement as a significant opportunity for the pet health industry and are assembling top tier partners to help Better Choice and our brands, including Halo, become pioneers in this sector.”
