CHICAGO — The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) on July 17 announced the launch of its Product Development Bootcamp, an online accelerator program designed as a knowledge base for food and beverage companies — including those in the pet nutrition sector — looking to optimize their new product strategies for success.
The 10-module virtual course covers product development skills, strategies and real-world examples shared by industry experts. According to IFT, the course has something for everyone, “from the product development novice to the product development veteran needing a refresher on the basics.”
Course modules include:
- Leverage Consumer Trends
- Ask Better Questions
- Communicate Effectively to Marketing
- Approach Product Formulations
- Optimize Cost & Quality
- Source Ingredients
- Avoid Allergen Contamination in Your Product Design
- Avoid Food Safety Issues in Your Product Design
- Approach Shelf-Life Testing
- Scale-Up Smoothly
Professionals who complete the course will have year-round access to IFT’s product development resources, and will also earn an IFT Product Development certificate.
“The product development process can be a long, arduous process,” said Bryan Hitchcock, chief science and technology officer at IFT. “From the moment a product opportunity has been identified through the launch of that new or modified product, time is one of the most valuable resources a product developer has. That’s why IFT developed the Product Development Bootcamp, to teach and reinforce time-saving approaches that give product developers the right tools to efficiently overcome challenges and bring products to market safely and effectively.”
