STOCKHOLM — Voff Premium Pet Food announced its acquisition of Energique, a Dutch raw pet food manufacturer, at the beginning of February. The acquisition marks Voff’s first foray into the Dutch market and expands its portfolio of natural, premium pet food products.
Founded in 1988, Energique manufactures high-quality raw pet food certified by the International Feature Standards food safety standard. The company operates a modern manufacturing facility in the Netherlands. Among its many brands, Energique produces a veterinary-approved raw formula, distributed to hundreds of veterinary clinics throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
“We are excited about Energique joining Voff; this is a business we have had on our radar for a long time and we are delighted to now join forces,” said Mårten Bernow, chief executive officer of Voff. “Energique has a strong brand known for its exceptional quality, an outstanding production facility and the company shares our passion for enabling healthier and happier pets. This acquisition broadens Voff’s geographical footprint and strengthens our position in central Europe. We are excited to welcome the Energique team to Voff and look forward to growing together.”
Following the acquisition, Energique’s co-owners Esmae Minne and Karel Nijholt will step down from the company, handing over operational management to incoming Managing Director Jan Fokko Nijdam.
“We are very proud of the great journey we have had building Energique since 2015 and see many opportunities that this next step can bring for the company,” Minne and Nijholt said. “We trust that Voff is the right new owner to further develop Energique into the future.”
This acquisition marks Voff’s ninth since its launch in 2014. In 2022, the company acquired Aristo Oy and Nova Dog Chews. In mid-2022, the company was acquired by Nordic private equity Axcel.
“I am excited to join a high-quality company such as Energique, and also a great team of fellow entrepreneurs and experts within Voff, to take the next step in Energique’s growth journey,” Nijdam said.
