LOS ANGELES — On Aug. 23, new sustainable pet treat brand Butter Bones launched at SuperZoo 2022 in Las Vegas. The brand’s pet nutrition products consist of clean, healthy, human-grade, plant-based treats boasting functional benefits.
Butter Bones was launched by the founders of Nut Butter Concepts, a supplier of almond-based food and person care products, Sarine and Steven Sahatjian and Roger Lund, a human and pet food industry executive.
"Our family has been farming in California for more than 100 years and we have experience in the plant-based food space,” said Steven Sahatjian, president of Butter Bones. “So, it seemed to be a natural progression to extend our innovation and resources in developing these plant-based pet treats.”
Butter Bone’s products include high-protein Puppy Puffs treats available in HIP & JOINT and SKIN & COAT varieties; almond squeeze treats available in HIP & JOINT and SKIN & COAT varieties; and supplement topper sprays available in BREATH & ORAL, SOOTHING & CALMING and SKIN & COAT varieties. All products are formulated by industry food scientists to offer functional benefits to dogs of all sizes.
Butter Bones’ sources the protein used in all the treats from California almonds, eliminating the need for animal-based ingredients.
"These products are super innovative; really nothing like most pet products that exist anywhere in the world today,” Lund said. “And to be able to deliver these healthy products in a human-grade plant-based format is truly remarkable.”
The brand will be showcasing its products during SuperZoo 2022 at booth No. 7868 and plans to launch on e-commerce and in brick-and-mortar stores during the fourth quarter of this year.
