KANSAS CITY, MO. — Hill’s Pet Nutrition partnered with Kansas City’s soccer club Sporting KC to help pets find homes and bring attention to the importance of animal welfare. As part of the season-long partnership, Hill’s also served as the title night sponsor for Sporting KC’s game on April 9.
The partnership includes an adoption event hosted by Hill’s, which will feature dogs from Wayside Waifs, Great Plains SPCA and Kansas City Kansas Pet Services. The adoption event will occur during halftime at Sporting KC’s home games from April 9 to 17. Hill’s will also sponsor 50% of the adoption fees of 10 pets from each shelter. All dog parents in attendance will have the opportunity to take home a gift provided by Hill’s during the adoption event.
“We’re thrilled to launch our partnership with Hill’s Pet Nutrition in such an impactful way by helping pets find homes with our incredible supporters,” said Jon Moses, vice president of corporate partnerships, Sporting KC. “Hill’s has operated in Kansas for nearly eight decades so we’re proud to partner with a neighboring company with such a rich history of being a game-changer in their industry and the region.”
Hill’s also plans to organize additional pet adoption events in collaboration with local animal welfare organizations at future Sporting KC games throughout the 2022 season.
“Hill’s Pet Nutrition is proud to support our hometown soccer club as we come together to help raise awareness about pet adoption and the positive impact pets can have in our lives,” said Nicki Baty, US president and general manager, Hill’s. “We look forward to our upcoming title sponsor night and helping dozens of local pets find their forever homes.”
Hill’s partnership with Sporting KC is just one of the ways the pet food company has dedicated itself to supporting the Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan., communities. Headquartered in Topeka, Kan., Hill’s announced its new manufacturing facility would be located in Tonganoxie, Kan., for which it received the 2021 Deal of the Year Impact Award.
Since 2002, Hill’s has also provided more than $300 million in pet food donations to more than 1,000 animal shelters throughout North America as part of its Food, Shelter and Love initiative. The initiative grew substantially in 2013 to include the creation of Hill’s Disaster Relief Network, which donates pet food to animal shelters, veterinary clinics and non-profits caring for pets during emergencies.
