DELPHOS, OHIO — D&D Ingredient Distributors, Inc., an ingredient and custom premix supplier for feed and pet food manufacturers, has been acquired by the Swanson Family of Companies, a Turlock, Calif-based organization that also owns Associated Feed, Nutrius and Virtus Nutrition.

Both the Swanson Family of Companies and D&D Ingredient Distributors are third-generation family-owned organizations, and their combination seeks to expand business opportunities and improve service to the pet food and feed industries.

“Our family is very excited at the prospect of entrusting D&D and our employee team to the Swansons,” said Doc and Dorothy Miller, who founded D&D Ingredient Distributors in 1976.

Arnie Miller, president of D&D and son of Doc and Dorothy Miller, added, “We had a number of requirements that we felt a partner would have to have and the Swansons fit all of them. We are looking forward to working together as one team going forward.”

The two companies share several values, including key business principles centered on quality products and customer service, honesty and integrity, employee respect and growth, and leadership by example.

“We’ve admired the Miller family and done business with D&D for many years,” said Matt Swanson, chief executive officer of the Swanson Family of Companies. “And for a number of years, we’ve wanted to achieve the combination of our two companies. Joining with D&D represents an important expansion eastward for us and it will enable us, with the help of the highly capable employee base at D&D, to better serve existing customers and position us to serve new customers in D&D’s market area.”

Under new ownership, D&D Ingredient Distributors will become D&D Ingredients LLC, and the company will incur minimal changes to business operations. Restructuring is currently underway, the company shared, and will “be seamless for D&D customers and vendors,” Arnie Miller said. The business model and management team will remain intact.

“D&D is a very well-run business, providing a wide variety of outsourced manufacturing services to the animal feed and pet food industries,” Swanson said. “D&D’s focus on high quality products and customer service has meant steady growth and expansion of both its customer base and market area.”
