ST. LOUIS — Dogswell, one of many pet care companies owned by Whitebridge Pet Brands, announced Oct. 18 the addition of a new functional, jerky-style pet treat to its portfolio.

Dogswell Gut Health Jerky is manufactured in the United States with New Zealand-source lamb, as well as pumpkin, ginger and live probiotics to support digestion.

“Probiotics is a huge category in the human market, driven by the growing consumer concern with preventive healthcare,” said Jessika Zulic, senior brand manager at Dogswell. “With the humanization of pets, this trend is now taking off in the pet product market as well. Dogswell Gut Health Jerky is right on target, providing the digestive health benefits of supplemental probiotics in a delicious meaty jerky treat that dogs will love.”

The No. 1 ingredient in these new treats is real lamb, which also adds to the product’s palatability, Dogswell stated. The jerky treats feature 22% protein content to support muscle mass maintenance. They are free from added sugar, grains, glutens, animal byproducts, corn, soy, and artificial flavors and colors.

Gut Health Jerky joins Dogswell’s existing portfolio of functional jerky dog treats, which currently includes Hip & Joint, Immune System, Skin & Coat and Vitality products formulated with various proteins.
