WASHINGTON D.C. —Sunshine Mills, Inc. on June 2 voluntarily recalled six lots of dry dog food due to potential Salmonella contamination. The company has conducted the recall in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The company’s 5-lb Sprout Sporting Dog Good formula tested positive for Salmonella during a routine surveillance sampling taken by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Sunshine Mills was notified of the recall by Fleet Wholesale Supply Company, a distributor, who was informed by the Minnesota department.
The recall includes:
- Sportsman’s Pride Professional Formula 30/20 Dog Food, 40 lbs
- Sprout Sporting Dog Food, 5 lbs and 40 lbs
- Intimidator Chicken & Rice Formula Dog Food 30/20, 16 lbs and 40 lbs
- FRM Gold Select High Performance Dog Food, 50 lbs
Products included in the recall were distributed in Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Texas, Alabama and Georgia.
Sunshine Mills reported no other Sportsman’s Pride, Sprout, Intimidator or FRM Gold Select pet food products are affected by the recall.
