WASHINGTON — Real Pet Food Company, an Australian company with US headquarters in Phoenix, Ariz., voluntarily recalled a single lot of its Billy+Margot Wild Kangaroo and Superfoods Recipe, sold in 4-lb bags, nationwide for possible Salmonella contamination.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the recall on Sept. 22. It includes 4-lb bags of Billy+Margot Wild Kangaroo with the lot code “V 07 Feb 2022.”
The product was distributed nationwide. Retailers who received the product are asked to remove it from shelves and dispose of it immediately. Consumers who purchased the product may contact the company for a refund or more information.
Real Pet Food Company stated the recall does not affect any other Billy+Margot products sold within or outside the United States.
Arizona state officials discovered the potential contamination upon sampling the product and finding it contained Salmonella. Real Pet Food Company has since ceased production and distribution of the product and is working with the FDA to investigate the issue.
