SALISBURY, Md. — Mark McKay has been promoted to president of Perdue Premium Meat, a new branch of Perdue Farms. Premium Meat will focus on the company’s pork, lamb, beef and pet treat business.
Previously, Mr. McKay was executive vice-president of specialty proteins and business development for Perdue, with responsibility for the Perdue Foods turkey, pork and pet treat operations. He also oversaw the brands and operations acquired through Perdue’s 2015 purchase of Natural Food Holdings, including the Niman Ranch, Prairie Grove and Siouxpreme brands.
Mr. McKay joined Perdue in 2011 as part of its acquisition of Coleman Natural Foods, where he worked with no-antibiotics-ever beef and pork, organic poultry and local brands. Mr. McKay also helped support Perdue’s transition from poultry to multiple proteins, the company said.
“Mark is an experienced and thoughtful executive who will lead Perdue’s premium meat portfolio for the Coleman Natural, Niman Ranch and pet treat brands to the next level of market penetration,” said Randy Day, chief executive officer of Perdue Farms. “This move aligns the resources from production through sales to further our growth in premium, no-antibiotics-ever, all-vegetarian-fed products from animals raised to higher standards across the full range of proteins.”
