The association plans to support the animal feed and pet food industries by focusing on regulatory practices, supply chain challenges, trade, sustainability and more.

The Innovative FEED Act would update the FDA’s process to review new feed ingredients.

During its annual spring meeting, the association also advocated for animal food industry issues on Capitol Hill. 

The decision goes hand in hand with the Innovative FEED Act awaiting a Congressional vote.

The Innovative FEED Act has bipartisan and bicameral support, according to the American Feed Industry Association.

The AFIA has commended the Senate HELP Committee for voting in favor of a new amendment.  

Under the Innovative FEED Act, animal food substances that do not carry nutritive benefits would be regulated as food additives instead of drugs.
