The Public Health Agency of Canada has ended its investigation after two brands of pig ear dog treats were linked to a total of 10 cases of Salmonella in humans.
The agency has issued an import alert for pig ear dog chews or other pig ear pet treats suspected to contain Salmonella, following a long-winded outbreak in the United States in 2019.
The agency has published guidance based on frequently asked questions about ensuring the safety of domestic and imported pig ear pet treat products in the US market.
The distributor is recalling 30-count packs of pig ears under Brazilian brand Berkley & Jensen, after recalling 34 lots of Chef Toby pig ear products, also from Brazil, in August.
