The Pet Food Institute provided comments to the AAFCO in response to its consideration of a new regulatory pathway for animal food ingredients. 

The pet food and treat market keeps expanding as the industry sets its sights on record sales by 2030. 

The proposal would replace AAFCO’s previous MOU with the FDA. 

The agency is accepting comments on its transition for ingredient programs until Sept. 9. 

Both organizations will continue to collaborate to ensure the safety of pet food and animal feed. 

The new Animal and Veterinary Innovation Agenda seeks to help foster product development.

The association met federal officials, advocated for industry issues and installed new leadership.

Public comment on the new Consumer Food Index is encouraged.

Nutrition Technologies has become the first Malaysian company with permission to export its animal food ingredients to the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The virtual meeting will be held on Feb. 9 and will discuss how the FDA can improve its partnership with the association.
