The new full-scale plant in Alberta has exponentially increased Enterra Feed Corporation’s production capacity of insect-based pet food and feed ingredients.

EnviroFlight, a subsidiary of Darling Ingredients, will expand the facility by more than 173,000 square feet and add an estimated 40 jobs in Maysville.

The company has released two treats and a meal topper, all formulated with a single ingredient: dried black soldier fly larvae.

The two companies have partnered to tap further into the growing market for insect proteins in animal food as a sustainable and environmentally friendly option.

Protenga will further research and development, expand its team and continue working toward a more circular global protein supply with these new investments

Protix will use this new investment to expand its production capabilities in The Netherlands and internationally.

The company has wholly acquired EnviroFlight, LLC, a company which rears and produces high-quality, sustainable proteins from black soldier fly larvae.
