Supporting and advocating for the pet food industry has become a personal mission for this dedicated leader.  

The Innovative FEED Act would update the FDA’s process to review new feed ingredients.

The new tool will help processors monitor regulations that could affect their operations and bottom line.

During its annual spring meeting, the association also advocated for animal food industry issues on Capitol Hill. 

A driver shortage, port congestion, labor and trade disputes, and other distribution snags all eventually lead to increased costs for consumers.

Some state legislators have placed the burden on pet food industry players to cover the cost of these programs, which could ultimately hurt consumers.

More specifically, it aims to address the American animal food industry’s dependence on vitamin and animo acid imports from China.

The EMIT LESS Act aims to bolster the USDA’s efforts in incentivizing dairy and cattle farmers who adopt practices that reduce enteric methane emissions.

According to the association, the proposed act would reduce state oversight, as well as label transparency and consumer protection.

Under the PURR Act, the FDA would have regulatory authority over labeling and ingredient review for pet food and treats.
