The Institute for Feed Education and Research continues to work with other industry partners to study sustainability, feed ingredients, virus transmission, and support the industry as a whole.

Dr. Cassie Jones, Dr. Keith Behnke, and Dr. Bill Braman were all recognized with individual awards for their support of AFIA and the animal food manufacturing industry.

Conference programs, including the American Feed Industry Association's Pet Food Conference, will be offered virtually instead.

The organization will invite up to three graduate students and up to eight undergraduate students to present their work in the pet nutrition space to roughly 300 pet professionals in January.

This year’s conference will be held virtually on Nov. 5.

The American Feed Industry Association and National Grain and Feed Association are two of 61 trade groups urging Congress and US trade officials to remain in the global trade organization.

A joint report by AFIA’s Institute for Feed Education and Research, Pet Food Institute and the North American Renderers Association shows pet food production boosts the economy and reduces agriculture’s environmental footprint.

The association cited COVID-19 complications for canceling its 2020 program, and plans to take this opportunity to improve the program.

AFIA’s research institute is now accepting proposals for a comprehensive roadmap to help the industry identify opportunities in and improve its sustainability.

The association will present the award during its 2021 Pet Food Conference at IPPE in January.
