NEPTUNE CITY, NJ. — Nylabone®, a Central Garden & Pet brand, is celebrating its 70th birthday with a commitment to sustainability — a new, eco-friendly and “refreshed” packaging design.
The new packaging not only revamps Nylabone’s products with a fresh new look, but also significantly reduces the brand’s environmental footprint. Featuring recyclable paper materials and eliminating most plastic blister designs, the new packaging gives Nylabone the ability to cut its annual plastic use by more than 40 tons, according to the brand.
According to Nylabone, this and other sustainability initiatives have earned the brand recognition as one of the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) Top Performers of 2024-25. This status comes after Nylabone became certified as a Pet Sustainability Accredited Business by PSC in January of last year.
“As we celebrate a 70-year long legacy of chewing excellence, we’re also looking toward the future — and that includes continuing to create top-quality products that best serve dogs, pet parents and our planet,” said Glen S. Axelrod, president and chief executive officer of Nylabone. “Through the new packaging design and its structure, we’re aligning our actions with our heart and purpose, creating a healthier planet for generations to come.”
Nylabone’s packaging update builds on its ongoing efforts to reduce waste. In 2024, the brand revamped the packaging for its Healthy Edibles® and Nutri Dent® chew treats, resulting in annual savings of 37,000 lbs of paper, according to the brand.
The new chew toy packaging will hit store shelves in the spring of this year.
