SAN FRANCISCO — Plant-based, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered dog food company PawCo Foods announced Dec. 10 it has received accreditation from the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC). According to PawCo, this achievement solidifies its commitment to ethical practices and environmental stewardship and also supports its mission to “revolutionize” the dog food industry through sustainable, science-driven nutrition.

Accreditation through the PSC is provided to companies that meet rigorous standards in environmental and social responsibility.

Since its founding in 2022, PawCo has been dedicated to sustainable innovation, practicing ethical sourcing to advance sustainability. Leveraging its GreenMeat™ ingredient, a proprietary, plant-based ingredient designed for use in pet food, the company has been able to save more 2,000 livestock from being slaughtered. Additionally, PawCo has also helped conserve more than 280 million liters of water and avoided up to 935,000 kgs of carbon emissions.

The company integrates AI into its recipe development to ensure each dog meal is nutritionally optimized while also minimizing waste and environmental impact. According to PawCo, these efforts paired with its vegan formulas make it a true pioneer in the plant-based dog food market.

“At PawCo Foods, we believe that every bowl of dog food is an opportunity to make a positive impact on our planet,” said Mahsa Vazin, Ph.D., founder and chief executive officer of PawCo Foods. “Becoming PSC-certified is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and the wellbeing of every dog.”

Looking ahead, PawCo plans to set even higher sustainability standards by developing new plant-based nutritional innovations.
