ERMELO, THE NETHERLANDS — Dutch manufacturer Premium Petfood Brands recently announced its acquisition of organic pet food brand Yarrah. Following Yarrah’s recent bankruptcy, this acquisition marks Premium Petfood’s expansion into the organic pet food segment and adds to its portfolio, which includes the Smølke and Rodi brands.
With growing demand for sustainable and organic products in the pet food market, this acquisition provides Premium Petfood Brands with the ability to offer both consumers and retailers a wider selection of responsible food, according to the company.
Premium Petfood Brands stated, “Over the years, Yarrah has built an excellent reputation for animal welfare and sustainability, values that perfectly align with our vision.”
Jan Jaap Roelevink, Premium Petfood’s owner, first started producing and marketing organic food under the brand name Yarrah back in 1992 and sold the brand in 2012. Now, the brand is returning to him — the company said it feels like “Yarrah is coming home again.”
Moving forward, Premium Petfood will focus on integrating the Yarrah brand into its business operations in order to return to serving customers, as well as continuing to strengthen the brand’s “heritage” in organic dog and cat food.
