ROCKLIN, CALIF. — Natural dog treat manufacturer Campfire Treats announced on Oct. 31 that it has received Compassion in World Farming’s (CIWF) Good Chicken Award in recognition of its efforts to improve the lives of chickens raised for meat.

CIWF’s 2024 Good Farm Animal Awards, held in Paris, recognized 49 companies from more than 15 countries around the world for leadership in improving farm animal welfare and creating sustainable food. According to Campfire Treats, over 500 million animals annually will benefit from the efforts of these companies.

Campfire Treats received the award for being the first company to become fully compliant with the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC). The BCC mandates healthier (slow growing) breeds, environments that support a chicken’s natural behavior, more humane processing and third-party auditing to certify these standards are met.

“We are proud and humbled to receive Compassion in World Farming’s Good Chicken Award in recognition of being the first-ever company to exclusively produce chicken products in full compliance with the Better Chicken Commitment,” said Marko Wittich, president and co-founder of Campfire Treats. “We believe in improving the welfare of all animals — not just those we invite into our homes as pets.”
