NEW YORK — Ollie, a human-grade fresh dog food brand, announced the appointment of Mia Davis as the company’s new chief impact officer. Davis will be tasked with creating strategies and policies to ensure the company has a positive impact on its employees, pets and the environment.

Davis brings more than a decade of experience as a leader in safety, sustainability, advocacy and social impact to her new role. She previously worked with beauty brands Beautycounter and Credo, and served as advisor to Safer Made, Novi Connect, rePurpose Global, Spindrift, ChemForward, Belcorp, Honest Company, Bloomi, Verity Case, goop, ILIA, and others.

“Ollie is a pioneer in crafting fresh, human-grade nutrition to materially improve the health of America’s dogs. We are delighted to welcome Mia Davis to the Ollie pack as our CIO and extend that pioneering spirit to sustainability,” said Nick Stafford, chief executive officer of Ollie. “With her proven track record of industry disruption and creating actionable change, she will lead Ollie’s important work in raising standards in the pet food industry.”

Soon after joining the company, Davis led the company’s initiative to join the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC). In addition, she guided the company through the transition of providing subscribers with a digital version of its Feeding Guidelines in their subscription boxes instead of a paper one. This small adjustment had an immediate impact on Ollie’s carbon footprint, reducing the company’s paper consumption by approximately 84,700 lbs and saving the equivalent of 1.7 acres of forest, according to the company.

Davis also spearheaded the company’s first comprehensive (Scopes 1-3) Greenhouse Gas (GHG) assessment to create a baseline of its current carbon footprint. Next steps will be to set actionable reduction goals in 2025 and repeat the GHG assessment annually to evaluate progress.

Her priorities for the second half of the year will be to analyze ingredient sourcing to prioritize ingredients that are grown with more sustainable practices, including regenerative farming.

Davis will also be tasked with working with Ollie team members and allies on packaging waste reduction, environmental health and social responsibility policies. Companywide initiatives will include partnerships with organizations who are working to place stray animals in homes, removing plastic waste from the environment, and empowering communities affected by environmental pollution.

“I’m energized by Ollie’s commitment to create meaningful change," Davis said. “Understanding our growing company’s footprint — from carbon to chemicals to packaging — is the first step to forging a path forward that will take Ollie well beyond the current industry standards, and ultimately elevate the entire pet food industry.”
