LONDON — THE PACK, an alternative protein dog food startup, announced an expansion to its retail presence, launching into Planet Organic supermarket locations. The new retail listing advances THE PACK’s omnichannel strategy.
Founded by entrepreneurs Damien Clarkson, chief executive officer, and Judy Nadel, who are also previous founders of Vevolution, THE PACK aims to revolutionize dog food “one bowl at a time” through innovative, plant-based recipes. According to the company, plant-based pet food is a rare sight on brick-and-mortar shelves, however, interest from retail chains throughout the United Kingdom is rising.
“We are seeing increasing interest from retailers in listing our plant-based dog food,” Clarkson said. “I commend Planet Organic under the visionary leadership of Founder Renee Elliot for re-launching their pet food section and putting plant-based proteins front and center alongside other established brands.
“THE PACK has built a passionate base of customers through our direct-to-consumer business and we are now in a position to grow our retail offering with the right partners,” he added.
THE PACK’s full range of plant-based dog food products, which includes wet diets and oven-baked kibble formulas, are available at all nine Planet Organic locations in London.
The retail expansion coincides with THE PACK’s first Crowdfunding investment round through UK platform Crowdcube.
“We understand the power of community to turn ideas into movements and bring about real social change. We saw that with the original incarnation of Vevolution,” Nadel said. “By opening up investment into THE PACK to our customers and the wider community, we are excited to harness the power of those networks to move the idea of plant-based dog food further into the consciousness of the wider general public.”
