VIENNA — At the end of October, Mondi announced its entire portfolio of kraft papers for various product packaging solutions had received compostable certification. The kraft papers are made from renewable and certified sources, allowing food and pet food producers to advance their sustainability efforts.
The kraft papers are certified as home and industrially compostable, allowing various producers to leverage the benefits of a wide range of comprehensive packaging materials to meet requirements for industrial packaging, shopping bags and food packaging, according to the company.
The certification further advances Mondi’s MAP2030 (Mondi Action Plan 2030), through which the company aims to make all its packaging and paper products recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025. According to Mondi, recyclability of packaging materials is its focus, however, composting also offers a viable end-of-life option for certain packaging applications.
“Certifications like these illustrate our ongoing commitment to provide our customers with the most suitable and sustainable packaging materials and solutions,” said Silvia Hanzelova, sales director specialty kraft paper at Mondi. “They give all our industrial, commercial and manufacturing customers the confidence that our papers are compostable and reassure them that, with us, they are working towards a more sustainable future. A future that continues to provide strong, effective packaging tailored to their individual needs.”
