MOUNT PLEASANT, TEXAS — Mid America Pet Food (MAPF) issued a voluntary recall of its Victor Super Premium Dog Food Hi-Pro Plus on Sept. 3. One lot of the formula was recalled due to potential contamination with Salmonella.
The recall was issued after a single sample of Victor Super Premium Dog Food tested positive for Salmonella in a random sample test conducted by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
The affected product consists of 644 cases sold in 5-lb bags of Hi-Pro Plus with lot code 1000016385 and best by date 4/30/2024. No other products are affected by the recall. MAPF has not received reports of any human or pet illnesses due to the recall.
MAPF encourages consumers to not feed the recalled formula to their pets and to discard the food. It also recommends that retailers and distributors immediately pull the recalled lot of Victor Super Premium Dog Food Hi-Pro Plus.
