LIVONIA, MICH. — Pet retail franchises Pet Supplies Plus (PSP) and Wag N’ Wash reported double-digit growth year-to-date, establishing another record-breaking year of expansion. Combined, both brands have signed 41 franchise agreements for a total of 71 new stores so far this year.
Year-to-date, PSP has secured 35 agreements to open 61 new retail locations. The brand also signed agreements with AVMH Ventures LLC, an existing multi-unit franchise group that joined PSP’s franchise in 2021. AVMH originally signed on for five PSP stores and has since purchased an additional 23 locations throughout nine states.
“The AVMH Ventures team are a prime example of how owning multiple locations can reap a variety of benefits — from finances to operations,” said Nick Russo, chief development and stores officer of PSP. “Our corporate team provides the blueprint each franchisee needs to find success in their communities, just as AVMH has. We look forward to watching and supporting as they expand their footprint of 28 locations in the coming years.”
With the US pet industry expected to reach $195.6 billion in sales by 2030, according to Bloomberg Intelligence, PSP and Wag N’ Wash are set to take advantage. PSP acquired Wag N’ Wash in early 2022 and has since backed the brand by helping its rapid expansion. Since then, Wag N’ Wash has doubled its store count with 25 locations currently open and 40 additional stores in various stages of development.
“When you have billion-dollar buying power, advanced marketing campaigns, supply chain efficiencies, and a corporate support team of more than 500, you have the ultimate recipe for success,” Russo said. “We have tried-and-true practices within Pet Supplies Plus from franchise development efforts to supporting our franchise owners and meeting our neighbors’ needs — and we do it well.”
Wag N’ Wash will soon open its first store in Michigan, which will serve as its flagship location.
“We’ve hit an impressive development stride this year, having already opened 40 Pet Supplies and Wag N’ Wash stores,” Russo said. “Our goal is to finish the year with a total of 60 new Pet Supplies Plus stores and 10 Wag N’ Wash locations. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished year-to-date and am confident we’ll continue to be standout brands within the franchising and pet industries.”
To meet this growth and support the pet industry, PSP and Wag N’ Wash are actively seeking out single- and multi-owners to join their franchises.
