LIETO, FINLAND — Musti Group shared on May 24 that its pet food facility, Premium Pet Food Suomi Oy, in Lieto has received food safety and environmental certifications. According to the manufacturer, the certifications demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and product safety.
In April, Musti Group increased its ownership in the facility from 49.2% to complete ownership of Premium Pet Food Suomi Oy. The facility now boasts the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 and the ISO 14001 environmental certification. FSSC is a global certification used to ensure food safety standards and processes. ISO is an international standard used to further environmental management systems. Both certifications are completely voluntary.
“We want to offer pets domestic, high-quality and safe food,” said Emmi Riihikoski, quality and new product development manager at Premium Pet Food Suomi Oy. “The certificates complement our long-standing commitment to quality assurance and environmental awareness. I would like to thank the entire factory staff for their commitment to these values and to the certification project.”
Musti Group acquired full ownership of the facility amidst rising demand for local and sustainable pet products. According to the company, an increasing number of pet parents are interested in pet foods that are locally produced and more environmentally friendly. The Premium Pet Food Suomi Oy plant boasts a logistically optimal location for raw material supply with ingredients being sourced mainly from local producers, according to Musti Group.
“At Musti Group, it is extremely important to us to be able to make life easier, safer and more fun for pets and their parents,” said Marja-Leena Holopainen, corporate social responsibility and quality manager at Musti Group. “An important part of this is to ensure the safety and responsibility of the feed. I am very proud that our own factory, Premium Pet Food, has achieved these important recognitions for the good work it has done to ensure feed safety and environmental considerations in its operations.”
