MANNHEIM, GERMANY — The RKW Group showcased its sustainable film solutions for various consumer goods industries at Interpack 2023 from May 4 to 10 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The company highlighted its RKW sustainable film line ECORE®, as well as its latest innovation: RKW Horizon®. The new machine-direction orientation (MDO) polyethylene (PE) film offers a fully recyclable mono-material structure for pet food packaging, among other consumer products. RKW Horizon offers sustainability benefits, as it can serve as a replacement for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and oriented polypropylene (OPP), and helps extend shelf life.
To produce its MDO PE films, RKW recently invested in a 9-layer extrusion line, as well as a 5-layer line for advanced lamination films. The investment allows RKW to offer the food, beverage and pet food industries the broadest MDO PE packaging film ranges, according to the company.
The packaging supplier also showcased its Multipack shrink film solutions made with 100% recycled content, which can be used for cans and plastic containers of pet food, among other food items.
“We are excited to participate in Interpack 2023 and demonstrate our expertise in providing customized packaging solutions to our customers,” said Mussie Berhane, chief commercial officer. “Our films are designed to meet the increasing needs of our customers, while ensuring an environmental responsibility, through more sustainable materials and production processes.”
