HARTSVILLE, SC. — Sonoco, a provider of packaging products for various industries, announced its high-barrier, paper-based packaging received pre-qualification from How2Recycle® and has met requirements from the Fibre Box Association’s Voluntary Standard for Repulping and Recycling.
Sonoco’s EnviroFlex® Paper Ultimate (ULT) 1.0 serves as a high-barrier solution, protecting perishables, including pet treats, from oxygen, moisture and grease. The solution is curbside recyclable and is available in a variety of formats, including rollstock, heat/cold seal, sachets and pre-made pouches. EnviroFlex Paper Ultimate (ULT) 1.0 is also free of PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated substances) and PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride).
“At the heart of our success is our talented R&D team and cross-supply chain collaboration, which has enabled us to develop and bring a portfolio of paper solutions to market that is both sustainable and effective,” said Elizabeth Rhue, global environmental, sustainability and technical services vice president at Sonoco. “Through our advanced technology scouting program and development of internal testing, our team has worked tirelessly to create products that meet the demands of today's environmentally conscious consumers without sacrificing quality or functionality.”
The How2Recycle pre-qualification will allow Sonoco to expand its reach of its EnviroFlex Paper Ultimate (ULT) 1.0 packaging, as well as enable it to provide food processors with access to more circular solutions.
