BERKELEY, CALIF. — Wild Earth will debut two new plant- and fungi-based dog food formulas at Global Pet Expo 2023. The complete-and-balanced dry dog food formulas are entirely free from animal-based ingredients, taking a biotechnology approach to cruelty-free pet nutrition.
The two dog food formulas include Performance Formula and Core Formula, both of which are free from five common dog allergens — beef, dairy, chicken, wheat and lamb.
The Performance Formula, which comes in a Veggie Chicken ‘n Kabob flavor, includes 28% fungi and plant-based proteins and is designed for more active pups. The Core Formula, which comes in Golden Rotisserie and Classic Roast flavors, contains 23% fungi and plant-based proteins.
According to Wild Earth, the company has become the leading DTC plant-based dog food vendor in the United States, following its appearance on Shark Tank and a $550,000 investment from Mark Cuban. The company is currently establishing distribution partnerships to expand its presence in the pet retail space.
“We are looking forward to launching Wild Earth into the pet channel at Global Pet Expo this year,” said Ryan Bethencourt, chief executive officer of Wild Earth. “More than ever the market is demanding cruelty-free, and eco-friendly foods requiring dramatically fewer resources like CO2, land and water to produce than conventional meat-based kibble. We are meeting that demand with Wild Earth!”
Wild Earth entered the pet market in 2018 with the launch of its cultured koji dog treats. The company will be exhibiting at booth #1211 at Global Pet Expo, held March 22 to 24 in Orlando, where it will host a national rollout of its new plant-based dog food formulas.
