GHENT, BELGIUM — United Petfood announced its intention to acquire a stake in Lider Pet Food, a Turkish pet food producer, at the end of January. Founded in 2008, Lider produces dry and wet pet food and treats, as well as feed for birds, rabbits and rodents.

Lider, which is owned by Lider Group, currently operates two production facilities in Turkey. The company’s pet food brands include Spectrum, Reflex, Proline, Enjoy, Bonnie, Jetix and many others.

“We see a perfect strategic and cultural fit between the two companies, and we believe United Petfood is the ideal partner in continuing our growth journey in Turkey and in our export markets,” Lider Pet Food stated.

United Petfood’s acquisition of Lider follows many acquisitions for the producer. At the end of 2022, the company acquired two dry pet food facilities from Cargill, and in October 2022 it acquired UK producer Gold Line Feeds.

“The aim of this partnership is to exchange knowledge and grow together,” United Petfood shared. “Lider remains fully self-managed.”
