BIRMINGHAM, ALA. — PetSmart announced a new delivery partnership with Shipt, an e-commerce app, on Dec. 8. Through the partnership, PetSmart’s pet food and supplies will be available via Shipt, offering consumers same-day delivery and expanding upon PetSmart’s omnichannel strategy.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Target Corp., Shipt operates through a network of shoppers to offer personal shopping and fast delivery to about 80% of homes throughout more than 5,000 cities across the United States. Customers can shop for a variety of products, including groceries, home goods, personal items, pet supplies and more through Shipt’s curated list of retailers.
“With each of our retail partners, our dedicated partner success managers work hand-in-hand to drive incremental sales for a retailer's business,” said Rina Hurst, chief business officer of Shipt. “We know, from PetSmart's recent data, that this holiday season over half of pet parents plan to spend more time shopping for pets than some of their own family members. We're excited to partner with PetSmart to ensure pet parents get all the gifts they need in time for the holidays and beyond.”
Shipt’s partnership with PetSmart marks the company’s 200th retail partner. The company will work with PetSmart to build its presence on Shipt, as well as develop a multi-channel marketing strategy.
“With nearly half of Shipt customers being pet parents, we knew this would be a great partnership to help bring PetSmart's offerings to even more pet parents,” said Cherise Ordlock, senior vice president of digital at PetSmart. “Same-day delivery is a key component of our omnichannel strategy, and it's important to expand our e-commerce offerings as demand for convenient shopping options continues to grow.
“We're excited to partner with Shipt to help deliver pet food, supplies, accessories and other necessities straight to pet parents' doors — and even offer those who love pet parents an easy holiday gift delivery option,” Ordlock added.
According to Shipt, its business is rapidly expanding as more retailers continue to diversify their fulfillment strategies. So far in 2022, the company has announced partnerships with 26 retailers and witnessed an 11% increase in orders.
