LIVONIA, MICH. — Independent pet retailer Pet Supplies Plus announced that its operator, US Retail Holdings, has agreed to purchase 29 retail locations from Wag N’ Wash.
The purchase agreement follows Pet Supplies Plus’s acquisition of Wag N' Wash in February and its announcement to add 20 new stores to its franchise in March. The retailers currently operate as separate entities, leveraging the same infrastructure and back-end support.
During the next five years, Wag N’ Wash will be opening several new stores throughout Nashville and Dallas, closer to various Pet Supplies Plus retail locations.
“We're honored that our largest multi-unit and now multi-brand operators see the power of scaling both brands and how each offer a unique experience for the neighbors and their pets," said Chris Rowland, chief executive officer of Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N' Wash. “This allows more neighbors to be served and existing Pet Supplies Plus owners to be first-to-market, with a specialty dog service and retail store front.
“We have a fresh vision of the growth markets that are best suited for Wag N' Wash pet services and which neighborhoods have room for both pet-passionate stores,” Rowland said. “We're adding our 34-years of pet retail and service learnings into the emerging brands infrastructure to grow its footprint alongside America's favorite neighborhood pet store.”
US Retail Holdings is operated by business partners Aaron Young, Chad Bush and Doug DeLozier, who have more than 60 years of combined experience. Young, Bush and DeLozier own and operate 49 Pet Supplies Plus locations throughout Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
