PORTLAND, ORE. — Portland Pet Food Company (PPFC) announced an expansion to its online distribution Sept. 12 through a partnership with PetMeds®. PPFC’s Homestyle Dog Meals and Dog Biscuits will be available through the distributor’s online platform.
“We’re excited to expand our reach across the United States by forming a relationship with PetMeds, who is a great partner and shares in our mission in keeping pets happy and healthy for as long as possible,” said Katie McCarron, founder of PPFC. “We know firsthand that proper nutrition is a simple way to minimize and prevent a pet’s pain and discomfort, and now our partnership with PetMeds will ensure that our healthy and wholesome products are accessible to even more health-conscious pet parents.”
With more than 25 years of expertise in pet, PetMeds partners with pet brands that share its commitment to enhancing pet ownership, particularly within the pet wellness space. As well as pet food and supplies, the distributor also offers prescription medications and over-the-counter products through Vester, a pet telemedicine provider.
The collaboration with PPFC will give PetMeds’ 10 million customers more access to all-natural nutritious pet foods.
“It’s an exciting time when we team up with similarly minded brands like PPFC who put exceptional care into their products and place pet wellness at the forefront of everything that they do,” said Matt Hulett, president and chief executive officer of PetMeds. “I know the millions of pet parents who rely on PetMeds for high-quality pet food and treats will be especially pleased with this new partnership.”
PPFC’s products include simple ingredients and can help support aging and ailing dogs, according to the company. The formulas feature high hydration levels to support joint health and prevent inflammation, urinary and renal issues; strong palatability for dogs that have lost their sense of smell or taste, or are picky eaters; and easily digestible ingredients for dogs with sensitive stomachs, allowing for increased nutrient absorption. According to PPFC, its wet meals and toppers can also help with medication delivery and dental issues.
The distribution expansion follows significant expansions by PPFC. In August the company debuted its first cat food formulas, which are now available on the company’s website, and detailed a partnership with distributor Veterinary Service, Inc.
