EUGENE, ORE. — Sustainable packaging supplier PakTech made its first foray into the pet and pet food industries with the launch of its new subsidiary brand: PetPak. The brand will offer sleek and sustainable packaging handles for those in the pet industry.
According to PetPak, more pet brands are recognizing the benefits of multipack solutions, which can offer consumers the convenience of buying in bulk. PetPak offers packaging handles made from recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to help these multipack options stand out in the pet aisle, as well as provide additional convenience to consumers.
“We are constantly looking for ways to innovate and deliver our sustainable solutions to broader industries, and the pet industry seemed like the perfect fit,” said Elizabeth Kouns, director of marketing at PetPak. “Say goodbye to the struggle of juggling multiple pet products to the checkout line — PetPak delivers an easy way for brands to sell and for customers to carry multiple products with ease.”
The custom-fit handles can help reduce inventory loss and serve as a sustainable alternative to traditional multipack solutions, including shrink wrap and cardboard. According to PetPak, shrink wrap obstructs the view of a product, is prone to item slippage and is not sustainable. Cardboard solutions obscure product, easily fall apart when exposed to moisture, and are not the most sustainable option, according to PetPak.
Offering a minimalist design, PetPak’s alternative multipack solutions provide a clean and premium look. With 31 unique color options as well as custom colors, pet companies can ensure the handles align with their company’s branding. PetPak’s handle solutions offer minimal, strong wrappings that ensure products will remain together without distracting from the original packaging design.
“PetPak brings years of successful industry expertise from parent company, PakTech,” Kouns said. “PakTech has a strong established portfolio and client base in the beverage, food and other CPG industries and is well recognized for its sustainability accolades. It’s our goal to carry our packaging proficiencies and sustainable advantages to the pet industry and create a future pet packaging trend with PetPak.”
The handles are made of 100% recycled HDPE, which offers flexibility and durability. HDPE is commonly used to create milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles and other durable containers. The material is non-toxic, food safe, infinitely recyclable and cost effective, according to PetPak.
“We believe that sustainable behavior is absolutely required to preserve and maintain our quality and diversity of life and the Earth’s ecosystems on which it depends,” said Jim Borg, founder of PetPak.
