BOULDER, COLO — On June 16, the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) announced that pet food company Canidae joined the coalition as an Icon member in May. Icon level membership is the highest level within PSC.
“Canidae has been known in the pet industry for its sustainable approach, so it was a strong match to have them step into PSC at a leadership level,” said Anne Klein, director of member services at PSC. “We are particularly excited about their support of regenerative agricultural practices and look forward to working with this industry leader.”
Icon members are leaders in sustainability, advancing their environmental and social performance while also aiding PSC on its work on major environmental issues impacted by the pet and pet food industries.
“This is an exciting moment on our journey to create a world of sustainable goodness for pets and our planet,” said Dana Paris, chief marketing officer at Canidae.
Canidae’s membership with PSC is just one of its many sustainability efforts. From sustainable pet food lines and the introduction of refillable pet food stations to the use of regenerative farming, the company has been committed to reducing its environmental impact throughout all aspects of its operations.
“Our mission to do the right thing for pets and for our planet is what inspires our commitment to regenerative agriculture, sustainable ingredients and planet-friendly operations,” said Bret Furio, chief executive officer of Canidae. “We’re excited to join in PSC’s ambition to create a more sustainable pet industry and partner with them to accelerate our sustainability roadmap.”
According to PSC, Canidae’s high-level membership will provide additional support to the coalition as it seeks to advance its efforts, which includes sustainable ingredient sourcing and packaging, as well as promoting a more equal, diverse and inclusive industry.
