HIGHLAND, ILL. — On April 4, Trouw Nutrition announced the opening of its new Blending Innovation Center (BIC). The company celebrated the innovation center with an official grand opening on March 29, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception.
The BIC will specialize in innovative blending technology for use in the pet food and treat industry. To create the innovation center, Trouw expanded its existing Pilot Plant by 23,952 square feet, creating a 32,052-square-foot modern facility. The expansion will provide Trouw with business opportunities and create new jobs for the Highland community.
The new BIC has been in construction and development for the past 10 months with aid from The Korte Company, the City of Highland and the Nutreco Industrial Project Team, as well as Trouw’s Innovation Team.
"It is so nice to reach this important milestone for our business and industry,” said Terri Boeser, general manager, Trouw. “Completing this project while up against COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions is a true testament to the dedication of our employees."
Headquartered in the Netherlands and owned by Nutreco, Trouw provides premixes, specialized blends and nutrition solutions for those in the pet and animal food industries. The company has 22 manufacturing facilities, including the newest BIC, and a presence in 105 countries.
"I am excited about the possibilities the new BIC will bring to support our growth ambitions in the global companion animal industry,” said Saskia Korink, chief executive officer, Trouw. “The new center will be instrumental in providing our customers with innovative solutions to advance the nourishment of the world's pets.”
