EAGAN, MINN. — SOMIC Packaging, Inc., a packaging machinery supplier, announced Jan. 11 that Garrett Guinn is its new western regional sales manager in Spokane, Wash. Guinn will work with companies in western states that need automated, end-of-line packaging systems. His addition represents coast-to-coast expansion for SOMIC Packaging.

Prior to joining the packaging industry, Guinn served in the US Army and later acted as an executive recruiter. He has experience in recruiting, business development, sales and marketing. According to Guinn, his switch in career paths will help him succeed with SOMIC Packaging.

“It was the challenge of acquiring new business without the need for a large support structure so I could succeed on my own merits,” Guinn said. “SOMIC was presented to me by a recruiter. After speaking with Peter, I discovered someone with a drive to succeed that is similar to my own.”

Prior to joining SOMIC Packaging, Guinn acted as regional sales manager for Arrowhead Systems. He has eight years of experience in equipment prospecting, material handling and end-of-line packaging solutions.

“SOMIC has an excellent product and I do have the challenge of convincing packagers to switch from their existing individual erect, pack, seal and palletize machinery to the SOMIC modular systems approach,” Guinn said. “But I have confidence that my experience within the packaging industry, especially in the western United States, will afford me the opportunity to be extremely successful.”
