MEQUON, WIS. — Fromm Family Foods announced a voluntary recall on Oct. 1 including 5,500 cases of its shredded dog food formulas due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D. Consumers were warned to stop feeding the recalled products immediately.
The recall includes four products distributed to neighborhood pet stores across the United States. Each product included in the recall was sold in 12-can multipacks.

Fromm stated the company discovered these products may contain elevated levels of vitamin D after conducting in-house analysis. The company shared this recall error was an isolated occurrence and has initiated corrective actions to prevent additional product recalls.
These products have been pulled from further distribution, and no related illnesses have been reported as of Oct. 1, according to Fromm. The company is working with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to disseminate recall information.
