AUSTIN, TEXAS — So far in 2021, A Pup Above has expanded distribution of its sous-vide pet food formulas to 600 new stores, bringing its total distribution network to 1,000 stores across the United States. The brand inked a distribution deal with Animal Supply Company in August and plans to roll out its product to additional Pet Supplies Plus and Pet People stores in September.
Existing distribution partners include Hollywood Feed, Mud Bay, Pet Supplies Plus and Tomlinson’s, as well as the recent addition of Animal Supply.
“We are proud to partner exclusively with the neighborhood pet channel to grow the gently cooked category,” said Ruth Marriott, co-founder of A Pup Above. “We have several programs to support our brand’s growth in pet stores. These include a sampling program and education program to make as easy as possible for customers and store employees to try and learn about the product.”
A Pup Above uses a gentle cooking method, sous vide, to develop slow-cooked diets offering optimal protein, better nutritional value and palatability, the company reported. Formulas include 100% human-grade ingredients, non-GMO fruits and vegetables, and animal proteins that are raised without added antibiotics or hormones.
“The slow-cooking process of sous-vide makes the meat extra tender and moist, creating this natural meat gravy that even the pickiest of dogs like Lola will go crazy over,” Marriott said.
The brand currently offers three fresh formulas for dogs: Turkey Pawella, Porky’s Luau, Texas Beef Chew and Chicka Chicka Bow Wow.
“We’ve been blown away by how much A Pup Above has grown in the past year,” Ruth added. “As we expand to other regions, we know A Pup Above will continue to stand out and resonate with dog parents who want better for your pup, fresh food options for their dog children.”
A Pup Above was chosen as one of five finalists for the 2021 Purina Pet Care Innovation Prize earlier this year.
