JACKSON, MO. — Mondi Consumer Flexibles plans to exhibit three new sustainable packaging solutions at PACK EXPO 2021, scheduled for Sept. 27 to 29 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. These solutions address market demand for recyclability, better omnichannel and e-commerce options, and convenience.

The company’s FlexiBag in Box is designed to support online and omnichannel brands, offering promotional space for brand imagery and messaging on the outer box as well as on the bag itself. This is ideal for direct-to-consumer brands needing an extra container to ship their products. The portfolio includes flat, rolled-glue or pinch-bottom options and ready-to-ship boxes, both of which can be custom printed to meet brands’ product marketing goals.

“FlexiBag in Box is designed for the growing online and omnichannel petfood market,” said William “Bill” Kuecker, vice president of marketing for Mondi Consumer Flexibles North America. “The ship in own container compatible box (SIOC) paired with a primary pouch combination is based on insights gleaned from extensive consumer research. The packaging equips pet food manufacturers with a powerful branding-through-use tool that supports retailers’ online marketing efforts and strengthens brand preference among end users. At the same time, it helps retailers to satisfy sustainability goals, while assuring environmentally-aware customers that the products they purchase conform to high sustainability standards.”

FlexiBag options are compatible with existing fill lines, Kuecker added, eliminating the need for alterations. Additionally, standard sizes and thicknesses for pet food applications are available.

Mondi’s PE FlexiBag Recyclable collection features resealable components to optimize product freshness. The entire package, including the press-to-close and pocket-zip features, is recyclable. This solution is specifically geared toward the pet food processing industry, offering high fat, aroma and moisture barriers and shelf stability. They are available in flat, rolled-glue or pinch-bottom configurations.

FlexiBag Recyclable is approved through the Sustainable Packaging Coalition’s How2Recycle Store Drop-off Program, but brands will also need separate approval for each product to offer convenient recyclability options to its customers.

Speaking of recyclability, FlexiBag Recycle Handle is a recycle-ready and easy-to-carry package, designed with a rolled-glue or pinch-bottom and a recyclable handle that makes it easier to carry and pour.  

All three solutions are part of Mondi’s FlexiBag collection, which offer premium rotogravure, up to 10-color flexographic or ultra high-definition flexographic printing, and a range of package attributes including clear windows, laser scores and gussets.
