ORLANDO, FLA. — Zesty Paws announced Aug. 23 it has signed an acquisition agreement with Health & Happiness (H&H) Group International Holdings Ltd., in which H&H Group would purchase 100% of the pet supplement company.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Zesty Paws will continue to operate independently under new ownership, which is subject to closing conditions and has not yet been finalized. The pet supplement company expects to benefit from H&H Group’s resources and experience to drive product innovation and expansion.
"We are delighted to be working with H&H Group to further realize Zesty Paws' vision of being recognized as the world's leading health and wellness company for dogs and cats," said Steve Ball, chief executive officer of Zesty Paws. "This acquisition combines H&H Group's mission of health and happiness for all, with our passion for holistic pet health, to create a greater opportunity for Zesty Paws to bring transformative supplementation to pets worldwide."
H&H Group acquired Solid Gold Pet in November 2020 for $163 million as its first venture into the global pet nutrition space. Its intentions to acquire Zesty Paws signal an expansion of its Pet Nutrition & Care (PNC) division, which it is building alongside its Adult Nutrition & Care and Baby Nutrition & Care businesses.
"The pet supplementation market has demonstrated great resilience and accelerated growth, and we believe Zesty Paws is well-positioned to make a strong contribution to the H&H Group offering," said Laetitia Garnier, chief executive officer of H&H Group. "Zesty Paws has established a strong brand and premium range of high-quality supplements for cats and dogs, with a pioneering spirit of innovation at its core. The combination of Zesty Paws' attributes and brand reputation in the US premium pet supplements market, and the growing demand for quality pet nutrition globally, makes this a very compelling opportunity for our Group."
Orlando-based Zesty Paws was founded in 2015 and has since launched several pet supplement lines sold through e-commerce, big box pet stores and mass merchandise stores including Target. The company’s portfolio includes functional soft chews, liquid supplements, meat-based treats and dental chews targeting specific areas of health and wellness for dogs and cats.
